Don’t worry if you are unable to conceive naturally. Though your path may look different than you hoped, we have solutions to help you start your family.
Intrauterine Insemination or IUI is an artificial insemination procedure in which viable sperm is inserted into the uterus. The hoped-for outcome of IUI is for the sperm to swim into the fallopian tube and fertilise a waiting egg, resulting in a normal pregnancy. It's a non-surgical and non-invasive procedure and is usually coupled up with ovarian stimulation.
Fertility issues are not uncommon, and IUI has proved successful for many before you. In cases where a natural pregnancy is not an option, IUI is the next best and less-invasive option. Some of the more common candidates are people with:
PCOS
Ovulatory factor infertility
Cervical factor infertility
Mild sperm abnormalities and low motility
Several factors including the severity of these conditions can contribute to whether a person is an ideal candidate.

The first step is understanding your fertility. We evaluate the basic fertility profiles of both partners, which includes a blood and semen test. You are both tested for any underlying issues or diseases that may reduce the success of the outcome.
The man provides a semen sample at the doctor's office. Since non-sperm elements in semen can cause reactions in the woman's body that can interfere with fertilisation, the sample is washed in a way that separates the highly active, normal sperm from lower quality sperm and other elements. The likelihood of pregnancy increases by using a small, highly concentrated sample of healthy sperm.
Timing is crucial with IUI, as is monitoring for signs of impending ovulation. An imaging procedure (transvaginal ultrasound) is performed to enable your doctor to visualise the ovaries and egg growth. You may also be given an injection of Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG) or other such medication to make you ovulate one or more eggs at the right time.
Most IUIs are done a day or two after ovulation is detected. Your doctor or care provider has a plan in place for the timing of your procedure and briefs you on what to expect.
The procedure is done by a doctor who attaches a vial containing a sample of healthy sperm to the end of a long, thin, flexible tube (catheter). The catheter is inserted into the vagina through the cervical opening into the uterus, and the sperm sample is pushed through the tube into the uterus.
After the procedure, the woman may be asked to lie on her back for a brief period. Once the procedure is over, she can go about her normal daily activities. She may experience some light spotting for a day or two after the procedure.
Around 12-14 days after the procedure a blood test is done to confirm if you are pregnant.
Once positive, our team of fertility advocates and doctors guides you on the steps required for a successful pregnancy outcome.
